offers an exciting introductory certificate course in Teaching English as a
Foreign Language.
Intentions
The intention behind the AOECT TEFL course is to introduce
participants to the exciting TEFL environment and to some of the practical
skills necessary for successful EFL teaching and group facilitation in the EFL
classroom.
This course is both time and
cost-effective, one which explores practicalities, and which gives participants
an insight into the EFL teaching environment allowing:

Method
Our course has been uniquely designed to follow a
facilitated workshop process rather than being a course of abstract lectures,
exploring some of the major methodologies and trends that inform EFL teaching
today.
Structure
The course is theoretical as well as practically
based. The theory component of the course is conducted over a period of 2 weeks
/ 45 hours in which participants explore the skills and techniques behind
communicative teaching. The fifteen-hour practical component comprises 9 hours
of observation and 6 hours of practice teaching under the guidance of an
experienced mentor teacher.
Certification
On successful completion of the course, participants
are issued with a TEFL certificate detailing areas covered on the course, a
course report and classroom practice critique.

The
Recruitment Process
Acceptance
on the course is not automatic. Participants are first screened to ensure their
proficiency in English. In addition, participants are required to have an
undergraduate degree and/or work experience in a professional environment.
Participants are considered eligible only once one or both these requirements
have been met.
