A
significant
portion
of course
time
is devoted
to micro-teaching
which
involves
course
participants
in facilitating
groups
of their
peer-participants
in controlled
activities
which
demonstrate
valuable
teaching
approaches.
Note:
Micro-teaching
involves
peer-teaching
in the
first
language
of the
course
group,
(i.e.
English). In
this
way
course-participants
will
develop
confidence
in their
roles
as facilitators
in the
EFL
classroom,
which
demands
an approach
different
from
the
one
adopted
in traditional,
top-down
teaching
practice.
The
intention
behind
this
micro-teaching
approach
is to
help
course-participants
develop
the
skills
necessary
for
putting
groups
of people
in active
communication
with
each
other.
If the
basic
principles
of this
essential
skill
can
be mastered
with
a peer-group
then
it will
be easier
to apply
them
in a
group
of EFL
learners.
